A new window in your basement can transform unused space into a bedroom or your new favorite living space. To add a bedroom in the basement you need an emergency-egress window. At least one window in each bedroom must be of sufficient size to permit the occupants to escape a fire and also to allow a fully outfitted firefighter to enter.
