Company Foundation

Robert “Buck” Bartley, his late wife Marcia and brother Tom formed The Bartley Corporation in 1970 with the help of a friendly backer, a station wagon, and a good idea.

The Bartley Corporation helped introduce residential concrete foundation construction to the Mid-Atlantic region, and today the multi-million dollar operation represents the benchmark of quality.

Thoughtful innovation and organized diversity have kept the company at the forefront of the residential and commercial industry. This diversity has increased the talent pool within the organization and keeps approximately 190 people employed on a full time basis. Buck Bartley maintains that “our people are our most important resource.” Buck & Tom support this resource by providing employee benefits which include vacation and holiday pay, an employee health plan, and a 401K.

Buck and Tom have also supported their employees by investing in the latest labor saving equipment and tools. Crane trucks for panels, screed machines for flatwork crews, gravel stone slinger trucks for drain tile and building slabs, and fully equipped trucks with the latest in communication have helped the employees with the back breaking work as well as to help them become more efficient and to do higher quality work. These are some of the reasons the Bartley Corporation remains at the top of the concrete construction industry.

Safety has always been an important component of the Bartley work ethic. To this end there is a written safety program, weekly tool box talks, quarterly safety incentive programs for both workers and drivers and a yearly company wide safety meeting. We care about our people.
